China Care Bruins Honored by the National China Care Foundation
Our very own China Care Bruins Club at UCLA has been honored by the national China Care Foundation, receiving the First Annual “Outstanding Community Service: Mentoring Program” Award.
Those of us who have been participating in the Bruin Buddy Program know that our Big Buddies are terrific and run a great program – but it is wonderful for the students to receive national recognition for their innovative efforts to empower our kids and to be the example for other China Care chapters. Go Bruins!
The China Care Foundation has a new website. Here is a link to the listing of the awards. http://www.chinacare.org/news/
Also, a China Care Bruins board member (and Big Buddy) was selected from a national pool of applicants to participate in the China Care/Half the Sky Volunteer Program in Beijing this summer, assisting children with special medical needs.
We will be evaluating the Buddy program over the summer and applications will be distributed via email in mid- to late summer. We also anticipate launching the China Care Bruins Teen Program next fall.
