About Us
Challenges and Opportunities
It is an interesting time for all chapters of FCC as new adoptions slow dramatically and the children adopted during the very active years of China adoptions begin to reach teenage and young adult years. Locally, we are also undergoing transitions such as changes in leadership. These broad international and local issues combine to create challenges, of course, but they also create opportunities. Should FCC continue emphasizing former priorities? Or as our demographics change regarding the age of children in our network, are there different priorities that may be more relevant? What should FCC's role be in hosting speakers and experts on adoption issues especially relating to transracial adoptions? How should we best use our limited financial resources? These are the questions we are debating.
We invite you to join the board and add your voice. We need you. Contact any of the board members using the contact page with your ideas and interest. There will be a February General Meeting, Update and Continuing Dialogue. Details will be posted soon. Please plan to attend.
Why Support FCC-SoCal?
Founded in 1995 (as FCC-Los Angeles), FCC-SoCal remains an all-volunteer organization that operates from the home offices, kitchen tables and garages of adoptive parents. FCC-SoCal does not have paid staff or leased office space. Our leadership and other volunteers donate 100 percent of their time and significant in-kind resources, but we depend on our members to donate the operating revenue.
Dues and donations go directly toward FCC programs, publications, services, outreach and charitable efforts. To keep our activities free for members or as affordable to as many FCC families as possible, dues often subsidize the venue, event and speaker fees, entertainment costs and refreshments. Dues also cover insurance premiums, annual government fees, and communication and postage expenses. Your dues and donations matter!
Through your ongoing donor and membership support -- and with a dedicated volunteer base -- FCC-SoCal will continue to flourish and advance, along with our ever-changing and maturing constituency of adoptive families. Your donations of time, funding and energy make the difference!
Our Mission and Goals
The mission of Families with Children from China-Southern California is to promote a nurturing community for adoptive families, to celebrate our children’s heritage and to support prospective parents.
Goals:
Board Members & Volunteer Staff
Families with Children from China-Southern California, Inc. was incorporated in 1999, as a California public benefit corporation and is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization. Since that time, FCC-SoCal has been governed by an all-volunteer board of directors and volunteer staff.

Become an FCC-SoCal Volunteer
As an all-volunteer organization, those who give of their time and talents are truly the lifeblood of FCC-SoCal. Without volunteers, FCC-SoCal doesn’t thrive, it doesn’t survive. A core group of volunteers has been happily pumping along for many years but an organization always benefits from an ongoing boost of “new blood” to keep FCC-SoCal vibrant.
FCC-SoCal is seeking enthusiastic teammates who like to “work and play well with others,” are willing to roll up their sleeves and, last but not least, want to share some fun and laughter along the way. When parents volunteer, we set a wonderful example for our children who, in turn, love to come to events to socialize with each other and begin to take ownership in their own special organization, FCC-SoCal.

History and Overview
FCC-SoCal is proud to have a longstanding tradition of charitable giving. In the mid-1990’s, at our chapter’s first meetings, families “passed the hat” to gather small donations to purchase vitamins for the children in China’s orphanages. Since that time, FCC-SoCal has raised and donated thousands of dollars to orphanage assistance programs and other worthy organizations and causes.
