Blazing Paddles Dragon Boat Team Season Kick-off Picnic

Friends of FCC-SoCal, and friends of friends, are all welcome to join us at Mother's Beach in Long Beach for the Blazing Paddles season kick-off picnic! Blazing Paddles is an non-competitive dragon boat paddling team. The original members are families that have adopted children from China. Over the years the team has recruited extended family members and friends. The extended team ranges in age from 3 to 75! The Dragon Boat cultural event takes place within the larger pan-Asian community.
- Blazing Paddles is not affiliated in any way with FCC-SoCal, but many members belong to both affiliations.
- New paddlers are welcome! Everyone should bring food and friends.
- Blazing Paddles competes annually in the Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival (July 18-19, 2015) and the Los Angeles Dragon Boat Festival (Oct. 17, 2015). For more info on these festivals, please visit www.lbdragonboat.com and www.ladragonboat.com.
- The team practices on Saturday or Sunday afternoons at Mother's Beach, starting in May. Practice schedule and more information will be discussed at the picnic.
- Dragon boat racing is a great family activity. Kids as young as 8 can paddle - we hope this year to have enough kids to enter an elementary age team. There is no upper age limit, nor any need for exceptional athletic ability!
